About LeanFPS
LeanFPS started from a simple observation: most game optimizers are large, change a long list of settings at once, and show charts that are not measurements. We wanted the opposite. A small app that changes only what has a real mechanism, can put every value back, and measures the result on your own PC.
How a tweak gets into LeanFPS
- It must have a known mechanism, documented by Microsoft or a reproducible guide. Every source link in the app was opened and checked.
- It must not lower security. Defender, Memory Integrity, the firewall, Windows Update and CPU mitigations are off limits.
- It must be reversible to the exact value you had before.
- It must pass an apply, check and revert round trip on a real Windows machine in our build pipeline.
Tweaks that sound good but do nothing measurable, like requesting timer resolution from a background app, are left out. The list is on the Windows gaming tweaks page.
Where things stand
LeanFPS is in early access. The engine, game detection, game profiles, FPS measurement and tray mode are built and tested on Windows virtual machines. We are now testing on real gaming PCs with different CPUs and GPUs before the first code-signed public release, and Pro checkout opens with that release.
